Rhizoctonia In-furrow Treatment & Results

This is how precision liquid in-furrow seed and soil treatment with fungicides can be highly effective in combating the root disease Rhizoctonia solani!

We believe that farmers and agronomists should be aware of just how effective accurate in-furrow liquid application of fungicides can be in battling Rhizoctonia, especially if applied correctly and targeted with absolute precision.

This image was taken in October 2013 during a crop walk to discuss results of scientifically validated and independently assessed field trials regarding fungicide application, which have now extended over a 3 year period.

We supplied the equipment that was utilised for these trials and the best crop yield result was a targeted split stream, split application ratio, (treating both seed and soil in-furrow at 70% of the application rate and the remaining 30% of the application rate being applied on the soil surface immediately after the closer plate).

These verified trials have added scientific credence to anecdotal evidence and have provided validated proof of in-furrow effectiveness.

There is nothing new about this practice, it’s simply that it’s now becoming viable due to registration being granted to some manufacturers for these products to be applied as an in-furrow treatment.

The industry may well look at these results and conclude that it’s the product alone that is responsible for these outcomes when in fact it is both the product and the capability of the application equipment. Remember, this is both seed and soil treatment and that’s why it’s so effective. Accuracy equals effective outcomes.

We have worked for many years developing equipment configurations to apply crop care products (including fungicide) as effective in-furrow seed treatments. Your chances of achieving this level of effectiveness in the field are greatly enhanced if you utilise equipment that is capable of precision application and split flow capability.

I’m sure that manufacturers of fungicides would always prefer to see their products applied properly to maximise the chance of success!
